During a successful meeting in Norman Wells with over 100 participants and a packed agenda, the NWTAC announced changes to its leadership.
Yvette Gonzalez, the current CEO of the organization is retiring after 27 years of dedicated service to the NWTAC. She will be moving to Alberta at the end of June, 2012. Sara Brown, currently the NWTAC’s Director of Community Operational Support will succeed Yvette Gonzalez as CEO effective Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
The organization will also see changes in its presidency in 2012. Gordon Van Tighem, Mayor of the City of Yellowknife and committed President of the NWTAC over several terms, will not seek re-election in the October 2012 municipal elections. He will continue as President of the NWTAC until November 2012.
All participants and observers acknowledged and celebrated the dedication and contributions of both the CEO and President over their many years of commitments and hard work.
