AFOA is accepting nominations for the 2012 AFOA Canada-Xerox Excellence in Aboriginal Leadership Awards. The Awards recognizes excellence, leadership and achievement in First Nation, Métis and Inuit finance and management. They are awarded to Aboriginal leaders and professionals who have made a significant contribution to an Aboriginal community or organization through their finance and management leadership.
The Awards provides financial professionals with a "standard of excellence" to measure and recognize their achievements and contributions toward effective, well-managed and well-governed Aboriginal communities and organizations
There are two categories for nominations for the Leadership Awards. The National category recognizes individuals who have contributed to the Aboriginal financial management profession on a national or institutional level. The Regional category recognizes those individuals who have made their contributions at the regional, local or community level.
The 2011 Awards were presented to Terry Goodtrack, Chief Operating Officer, Aboriginal Healing Foundation (National Category) and Alana Dixon, Administrator, Canim Lake Band (Regional Category). The 2012 Awards will be presented at the AFOA 2012 National Conference Banquet in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on February 16, 2012 with over 800 attending.
