Call for Proposals – Environmental Damages Fund
Environment Canada
The Environmental Damages Fund (EDF) is a specified purpose account administered by Environment Canada. The Environmental Damages Fund Program ensures oversight and accountability of monies directed into the Fund as compensation for harm caused to the environment or wildlife. Projects are funded as a result of an EDF award or fine. The goal of the EDF Program is to achieve restoration of the environment where damage occurred. In cases where restoration or environmental quality improvement projects are not possible, the funding may go towards research and development initiatives that support restoration initiatives or education and awareness activities that will help to prevent future damage.
Funding details and application forms are available online here. If you require more information on this EDF 2010-2011 Call for Proposals, please contact: Leslie Wilson, Environmental Damages Fund, Community Programs (867) 669-4757 leslie.wilson@ec.gc.ca

In the weeks leading up to Emergency Preparedness Week, NWT residents should work to ensure they are prepared for emergencies. In the NWT, this time of year preparedness is particularly important. With the spring melt and many people heading out on the land as weather improves there are increased risks relating to floods and being stranded in remote areas.
