This course introduces the student to the key aspects of budgeting, record keeping and financial management relevant to a community recreation operation. Instruction in lottery licence applications and reporting, fundraising and proposal writing is also provided.

Community Recreation Leader Certificate Program

This program is designed to provide recreation leaders in northern and aboriginal communities with practical and relevant skills and knowledge to effectively deliver recreation services. The curriculum is based on the approved occupational standard.

What will I learn?

The program provides instruction in key competency areas for recreation leaders including leadership, communications, program planning, volunteer development, youth programs and services, traditional games and sport.

In the weeks leading up to Emergency Preparedness Week, NWT residents should work to ensure they are prepared for emergencies. In the NWT, this time of year preparedness is particularly important. With the spring melt and many people heading out on the land as weather improves there are increased risks relating to floods and being stranded in remote areas.
