Applications are invited for the position of Water Plant Operator with the Town Of Norman Wells, Northwest Territories. 

The Water Plant Operator reports directly to the Assistant Town Manager and is expected to train in practical and theoretical operation and maintenance of the Water Plant facility.

The position requirements would include:

  • Conduct all sampling, testing and recording of results as required by the Town of Norman Wells Water License.
  • Perform all duties as required in the applicable Operations Manuals for all utility systems.
  • Perform equipment and machinery checks as required and ensure their continued operation and maintenance.
  • Perform minor repairs as may be required and/or as may be directed by the Assistant Town Manager.
  • Assume responsibility for operations in the absence of the Assistant Town Manager.
  • Be available for weekend and evening standby as may be directed by the Assistant Town Manager.
  • Perform other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Town Manager.
  • Work towards furthering education.

The ideal candidate shall possess the following qualifications:

* A minimum of 3 year experience in a water treatment and distribution facility
* Grade 12 or equivalent
* Successful completion of an associate degree or a 1year certificate program in water quality and wastewater treatment technology
* Excellent mathematical skills
* Proven reliability, flexibility and problem solving skills

Compensation and benefits are very competitive and under review.
