TECHNOLOGIST
The City of Yellowknife is currently seeking a professional well qualified individual to assume the challenging and rewarding role of Senior Engineering Technologist with the Public Works and Engineering Department.
Under the general direction of the Manager of Public Works & Engineering, the incumbent will aid in coordinating the planning, implementation and reporting of municipal services and programs according to City policy and directives. A significant part of the incumbent’s time will be spent in managing multi-million dollar capital projects, including construction and contract management, design of water and sanitation projects, as well as roads and sidewalks capital projects. The balance of time will require the incumbent to work on other municipal services projects, or tasks as outlined below.
The Senior Engineering Technologist requires a post-secondary education in the municipal field, such as a “Civil Engineering Technologist” (CET) designation, and a minimum of five (5) years of field experience on municipal projects. Experience and equivalencies will be considered. The incumbent requires effective interpersonal and organizational skills combined with strong verbal and written communication skills. He/she must have knowledge and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint as a minimum as well as knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and land development software. A valid Class 5 driver’s licence is required.
The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive salary range of $75,985 - $92,357 and as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a monthly housing allowance, a defined benefits pension plan and relocation assistance.
