Partnership of Elected Leaders for Local Governance (PELLG) - Successor to the New Deal Working Group. MACA and NWTAC agree to reaffirm the importance of collaboration through the establishment of the Partnership of Elected Leaders for Local Governance for the consideration and analysis of key issues affecting community governments within the NWT. The goal of PELLG is to provide a forum for NWT elected leaders to consider initiatives relevant to NWT local governance and seek to develop consensus on recommendations to move forward. The Partnership will create a framework for consistent and regular engagement and communications on common issues and interests. Recognising the expert operational advice and support that Local Government Administrators (LGAs) provide to elected leaders on all issues impacting community governments, PELLG will seek to establish a Committee of LGAs to engage with PELLG in order to provide technical analysis and support on issues. Membership on this Committee will be based on availability, interest and expertise. At all times, the President of LGANT will be sought as a standing member of this Counsel, with other members selected mutually by PELLG members.
